CTEEA

We put the T and E in STEM

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our program is the only Technology Education program left in New England. There is a shortage of teachers as most of you are aware. We need your help in this recruitment process to keep Tech Education and STEM related topics in the public schools of Connecticut. Our enrollment is at a historically low level.

The Technology & Engineering Education Department along with the sponsorship of CTEEA will be hosting an OPEN HOUSE for parents, students, and teachers in Copernicus Hall on Saturday, March 8th from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon in an effort to recruit students who may be interested in becoming Tech Ed Teachers.

Many of our students come to our program because they have been encouraged by their TE teachers. The open house will give high school students a chance to visit our labs, meet with our students and hear about the many activities we offer.

Parents will be able to talk with faculty and admission folks about what the Central experience will be like.

Please let us know if you have any parents, students who would plan to attend.

Help prepare for the future with our efforts to increase enrollment.

Monthly Teacher Recognition Program

The CTEEA recognizes  the dedication, accomplishments and leadership demonstrated daily by our Connecticut Technology and Engineering Education educators and want to celebrate these teachers through a monthly, yearly and national recognition program.

Starting in November 2021 a new monthly recognition program will be launched, Connecticut teachers and administrators will be able to electronically nominate any Connecticut Technology and Engineering Education teacher, does not have to be a current CTEEA member, for this monthly recognition. Self nomination will also be encouraged and accepted.

From November 2021 to June 2022 those who are considered for monthly recognition and are unified members of CTEEA/ITEEA will be encouraged to apply for Connecticut CTEEA Teacher of the Year and the teacher chosen as the Connecticut Teacher of the Year for 2022-2023 will be forwarded to ITEEA for their recognition at the ITEEA Conference in the spring of 2023,  as the Annual Teacher Excellence awardee from Connecticut.

The electronic nomination form can be found at https://forms.gle/GG99eY88y72KUQjc8

Monthly awardees principal and superintendent will be notified and posted on the CTEEA.org website.

    CTEEA VEX Robotics Planning Workshop
    Date: May 22, 2025
    Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Location: Copernicus Room 101, Central Connecticut State University (CTE Lab, Lower Floor)

The Connecticut Technology Education and Engineering Association (CTEEA) is hosting a VEX Robotics Planning Workshop designed specifically for all Connecticut Robotics Team Advisors, Coaches, and Event Partners. This professional development session provides a valuable opportunity to collaborate, share ideas, and engage in meaningful discussions to help strengthen the VEX Robotics community across the state.

    Workshop Focus:

    • Networking Opportunities: Connect with fellow coaches, advisors, and event partners to share experiences and best practices.

    • Event Hosting & Assistance: Learn the logistics of hosting or helping at robotics events. Topics will include personnel needs, costs, technology requirements, and the benefits of hosting events for your teams and the community.

    • Skills Competitions & Judged Awards: Understand the importance of skills challenges and judged awards in the overall success of your teams and their growth.

    • Planning for Next Season: Explore strategies for scheduling events, including managing the possibility of hosting two events over the same weekend.

    • State Championship Update: Get the latest information on state championship planning and provide feedback on how to improve the event for all participants.

    • State Funding & Summer Training Update: Learn about state funding opportunities and hear about our week long summer training July 7-11. Session planned so far

      • Running a Successful Program: Discover effective approaches to running a VEX Robotics program that fits the unique needs of your school or organization.

      • Event Hosting Benefits: Gain insights into the benefits of hosting robotics events, including community engagement, team development, and fostering STEM education.

      • 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status: Is nonprofit status right for your program? Discuss the pros and cons of forming a 501(c)(3) and how it may impact your team’s funding and operations.

      • REC Foundation Update: Receive the latest updates on REC Foundation programs, including training opportunities for all levels of robotics teams (Drones, VEX IQ, VEX V5).

      • Addressing Statewide Needs: As we continue to expand as a state region, we need to re-evaluate how to best serve teams across Connecticut. This includes increasing the number of event partners, acquiring additional resources (such as a second trailer), and recruiting more volunteers.

      • Building, Coding and Driving in V5: Learn best practices from students members from several programs across the state

      • Training session for all REC Programs  Droves, IQ and V5.

      • CAD, 3D printing and Laser Cutting.

    Why Attend:

This workshop will provide you with essential tools, resources, and strategies to improve your robotics program and event hosting capabilities. We’ll discuss the importance of balancing event frequency to ensure the health of the region, its volunteers, and most importantly, our students. Together, we’ll create solutions to make events more manageable while still growing the number of teams and opportunities for students to compete.

    Let your voice be heard!

Help shape the future of VEX Robotics in Connecticut by attending this workshop and actively participating in the discussion. The success of our robotics programs depends on a strong, engaged community—this is your chance to be part of that effort.

Please sign up for this workshop and ensure that your team has representation. We look forward to seeing you there!
